Dear Backers,
Happy 2019! Hope everyone had a great New Years. We are looking forward to 2019 being the year of HoverGlide as we continue the process of producing the HoverGlide backpacks.
Thank you to everyone that filled out the exploratory survey. We got all of the information that we needed to zero in on the sizes of harnesses that we will be offering. If you missed the survey, do not worry, we will still be sending out another survey closer to delivery that will verify pack choice, harness size, delivery address, etc.
Also, wanted to share some good news that our designer who lost his studio in Paradise fires has found a new studio location and is back up and running!
We are also pleased to share that Lonely Planet included HoverGlide as one of their top ten favorite tech stories from the year! Check it out below.

Dear Backers,
First, I want to thank you again for your support and belief in the project. We have been working busily behind the scenes and wanted to bring you up-to-date.
Our first order of business has been to get you the survey to fill out so we know which pack type(s) you want. We will be breaking up the survey into two as it is a bit complex and we want to get things moving sooner rather than later. Not only do we have 4 different HoverGlides but we also have different sizes in the harness and hipbelt and in the case of the Trekker, we will have different cuts depending on gender.
The first part of the survey will be sent out this week and will ask you for some information which will help us manufacture the appropriate sizes for our backers.
We did want to alert you an event which may cause a delay in delivery. You are probably aware of the devastating wildfires taking place in California. These fires have significantly affected our backpack designer as his studio was located in Paradise, CA. Rest assured, he is safe and sound but has had to find a new place for his business. We did account for unforeseen circumstances in our timeline, but even so, we are working hard behind the scenes to make up for lost time, but want to be transparent as notable items come up through this process.
Simultaneously with the survey, we have been finalizing the design of the small HoverGlide frame and components. We have sent off the frames for 3-D printing last week. The components that go in between the frames have also been sent off to be machining or 3-D printed.
We expect the next iteration of the small HoverGlide to be completed the first week of December. The HoverGlide will then be rigorously tested and a final design will be started. Once that iteration is completed and satisfactorily tested, we will coordinate with our manufacturing partners to start machining of the small HoverGlide frame molds. We will also coordinate with our manufacturing partners about making the components.
Once this is done, we will turn our attention back to the large HoverGlide pack and update the frames and components using some knowledge we developed while working on the small HoverGlide frame and components. We do not anticipate this focused approach to cause the large backpack to be delivered significantly later than the small backpack.
We hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and Holiday season and wish peace and quick recovery to our friends and colleagues in California.
Larry

Hello,
We will be sending out our first round of surveys starting Monday, December 10th. This survey will focus on getting info for the cuts and harnesses that we will offer.
There will be a second survey where you will choose your pack type, color, size, and cut.
Thanks,
Larry and the HoverGlide team
